A Sanskrit appreciation workshop was conducted by Dr. Sampadananda Mishra, Director, SAFIC, for a group of twelve students from the University of Barcelona who are here in India for last two months for a study exchange program. The students are sincere and receptive and have an aspiration to understand deeply the language, culture, philosophy and religion of India.
In the Sanskrit appreciation workshop conducted on 2 nd of November at the Sri Aurobindo Society premise, Pondicherry, the students were explained about the systematic nature of Sanskrit, its historicity, the importance and relevance of the Sanskrit Alphabet, the beauty of the root-sounds, richness of vocabulary, easy and flexible nature of Sanskrit, and the psychology behind the birth, growth and development of Sanskrit. The students were also taught how to express simple basic wishes in Sanskrit.
The students appreciated most the sound-sense relationship in Sanskrit, the systematic and scientific nature of Sanskrit alphabet and the rhythmic and mantric nature of Sanskrit. The session ended with the chanting of
ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः and पुनदर्शनाय पुनहर्षणाय पुनर्मातृदेव्याः कृपावर्षणाय
