IYA Puducherry Meet and Greet Program

On the 1st of June, the first meet and greet program for Indian Yoga Association Puducherry Chapter was organized through a Zoom Video Conference. Dr. Sampadananda Mishra, Director SAFIC and Secretary, IYA Puducehrry chapter initiated the meeting by welcoming the participants and explaining the purpose of the meeting. For this meeting an invitation was sent to all the Yoga teachers an dinstructors in Pondicherry to participate so then they know about the presence of Indian Yoga Association in Pondicehrry and take part in its activities. The meeting was attended by 27 participants and the office bearers of IYA Puducherry along with the Joint Secretary of IYA head office were present. In the meeting the decision to celebrate International Day of Yoga was also taken.

Decoding Sanskrit from Modern Perspective   

On 4th of June 2020 Dr. Sampadananda Mishra was invited to deliver a lecture on Role of Sanskrit in Transforming India’s Education System in a Webinar organized by K J Somaiya   Samskriti Peetham, Mumbai. The broad theme of the webinar was ‘Decoding Sanskrit from Modern Perspective’.  In his talk Dr. Mishra explained that Sanskrit because of its richness has immense power in bringing transformation to the education system of India. He emphasized that Sanskrit must be introduced to the children from the pre-nursery level. The old  Sanskrit teaching pattern that continues to dominate in the schools must undergo a radical change and more innovation needs to be brought to the system of teaching and learning of Sanskrit for better performance.

The webinar was attended by hundreds of Students and teachers and Sanskrit lovers. Other panelists were Prof. Srinivasa Varakhedi, VC, Kavikulaguru Kalidasa Sanskrit University, Acharya Vidya Bhaskara, Director, Omkarananda Sanskrit Academy, Switzerland, Dr. Oscar Pujol, Director, Instituto Cervantes, New Delhi,  Prof. Mahlar Kulkarni, IIT Mumbai, Dr. RG Muralikrishnan, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, New Dlehi. Shri Samir Somaiya, Chancellor and Prof. V N Rajashekharan Pillai, VC of the Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai graced the occasion by delivering the inaugural address and keynote address respectively. Dr. Kala Acharya, Director of the Samskrti Peetham was convened the whole program.

On 16th of June Dr. Mishra was invited by the Rethink India organization for a conversation on the different activities that he is engaged in and to discuss about the Rishi tradition of India. Samatvam Yoga Uchyate 

On 20th June Dr. Mishra was invited to deliver a talk on Samatvam Yoga Uchyate – Deliberation on the Yogic Equality as Expounded in the Bhagavad Gita. This was organized as part of a series of webinars on Mahābhārata/Bhagavadgītā under the aegis of the ongoing project on Yoga Consciousness in Mahābhārata and Bhagavadgītā: The Ethical Value for Societal/Political Wellbeing under the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) by IIT Kharagpur and MHRD. This also marked commemoration of International De of Yoga 2020.

In his talk Dr. Mishra explained about what is and is not equality, equality as the foundation of inner progress, stages of growth into equality, types of equality, how to establish equality, equality of the physical, vital, mental and the highest spiritual equality, and equality: a way to face boldly the challenges of life. The webinar was attended by above hundred and fifty participants and was very well responded. In the question and answer session many participated actively by putting their questions related to the topic.

After the Dr. Geetesh Nirban who was one of the Directors of the program wrote: Dr Mishra, with all gratitude and deep sense of appreciation I say thank you for all the time you gave. It gives inner peace to hear you. So many scholars and general people heard you. Even my undergraduate students. All were mesmerised. Dr Bala will speak to you. I will send a formal mail to thank you. This message is straight from heart. I miss coming to Pondicherry. Am well lifted from depression and doing fine now all because of reading our own beautiful Indian texts. Yogic Solutions to Psychological Challenges Arising in Present Situation (COVID-19) 

Dr. Mishra was invited to deliver a lecture on ‘Yogic Equality – A way to Remain Unmoved in All Situation’ in a National Webinar organized by the Department of Yogic Science and Naturopathy, Guwahati Campus, Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva Viswavidyalaya. This National Webinar on Yogic Solutions to Psychological Challenges Arising in Present Situation (COVID-19)  was organized on 20th June 2020 in collaboration with Indian Yoga Culture and Yoga Therapy Centre, Maligaon, Krishna Kanta Handique Govt. Sanskrit College, Jalukbari and Indian Yoga Association (IYA) for commemorating the International Day of Yoga. Above two hundred and fifty participants took part in this webinar. After a forty-five minutes lecture there was question and answer session in which many questions were asked by the participants for which Dr. Mishra provided the answers. Resurgence of Sanskrit and the Integral Synergies it Presents with Yoga

Dr. Mishra was invited as panelist to speak on ‘Sanskrit as a Language of Consciousness’ in a Webinar on ‘Resurgence of Sanskrit and the Integral Synergies it Presents with Yoga’ organized on 21 June 2020 by the Language Curry company. This webinar was organized to commemorate International Day of Yoga 2020 and in this seminar other panelists were: Dr. Rammanohar, Director, Amrita School of Ayurveda Kolam; Dr. Oscar Pujol, Director, Instituto Cervantes, New Delhi; Acharya Vidyabhaskara, Director, Omkarananda Sanskrit Academy, Switzerland, and Dr. Vamsee Juluri, Professor, Media Studies, University of San Francisco. The webinar was attended by around fifty participants. The deliberations on various topics like: ‘Yoga for the refinement of mind, Sanskrit for refinement of speech and Ayurveda for refinement of the body’ by P Rammanohar; ‘Sanskrit’s Third Revolution’ by Dr. Oscar Pujol; ‘Sanskrit as Inspiration in the Media Age by Dr. Vamsee Juluree; ‘The interdependent relationship between Sanskrit terminology, the Yogadarśana and the Anāgata or the future by Acharya Vidyabhaskara were very enlightening.

Global Festival of Yoga – Celebrating Wellness

On 23rd June Dr. Mishra was invited to deliver a talk on ‘Chandoyoga – A Unique Yoga Sadhana for Maintaining Health and Wellness’ in  a webinar organized by Indica Yoga. This was part of the month long Global Festival of Yoga organized by Indica Yoga for celebrating Wellness as a part of the International Day of Yoga 2020. In his talk Dr. Mishra explained how the fundamental principles underlying the creation are to be found in the principles of Chandas or metrical patterns in the Sanskrit poetry. He drew a parallel between different parts of human being and the different components of the Chandas in Sanskrit and explained that the Chandas are immensely powerful tools in bringing balance and harmony and peace and ananda to the one who understands the deeper nature of the Chandas and uses those consciously. The participants actively participated in interacting and asking several questions which arose in their minds after listening to Dr. Mishra.
