His work spans a wide diversity of subjects such as Sanskrit grammar, prosody, literature, ancient culture and Indian philosophy. He has been invited to talks at national and international conferences and seminars, has authored research papers and articles for various Sanskrit journals and magazines, and has published a number of books in the field of Sanskrit. Some of his books have been further undertaken as audio-visual projects and are available in digital formats. He has also been teaching Sanskrit since the 1990s, and has developed structured workshops for Sanskrit learners of different levels as well as workshops on Indian Culture to facilitate the study and comprehension of the Indian scriptures. Apart from this, he has organized national seminars and exhibitions that are held on a regular basis.
Dr. Mishra holds a host of honorary positions as an academic advisor and coordinator while also being the Vice-President of the Bharatiya Samskrita Patrakara Sangha (New Delhi) and the Trustee of Geetagovinda Pratishthanam (Puducherry). He has been a mentor to the Sanskrit Faculty at the Seth MR Jaipuria School (Lucknow) for more than one decade, and has helped develop the Sanskrit curriculum, titled Devabhasha, along with the corresponding lesson plans at the school. One of his most recent project undertakings is as one of the Trustees of the Vande Mataram Library.
Dr. Mishra has worked as the Associate Editor of the Collected Works of Vasishtha Kavyakantha Ganapati Muni published in twelve volumes. In 2013, he launched the first ever 24-hour Sanskrit Radio called Divyavani and is single-handedly managing the entire content. In the year 2014, Dr. Mishra founded Samskrita Balasahitya Parishad with the aim of creating, evaluating and propagating children’s literature in Sanskrit.
His work in the field of Sanskrit has won him accolades such as the Maharshi Badrayana Vyasa Sammana from the President of India (2011) and the Senior Fellowship Award by Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2014). He was conferred the Bal Sahitya Award (2018) by Kendra Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, for his book ‘Shanaih Shanaih’, an illustrated book of Sanskrit poems for children.
Dr. Mishra’s academic qualifications include a post-graduate degree in Sanskrit from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, an M.Phil in Sanskrit from Pondicherry Central University, receiving the Gold Medal for his excellent performance, and a Ph.D. from Utkal University on ‘Sanskrit and the Evolution of Human Speech’.
Some of the major projects he is currently working on are: Creating Innovative Sanskrit Learning Materials for the Children, Transparent system of Root-sounds in Sanskrit; Vedic Art of Multiple Concentration and Sanskrit & Speech-pathology.
